Eva Perea, the new rector of the University Abat Oliba CEU
The University Abat Oliba CEU, member of ICUSTA, has a new Rector, Dr. Eva Perea Muñoz. She is a person with a long trajectory in that institution. For almost a decade she has given classes in the area of Economics and Business. Moreover, in recent years she has held various responsibilities within the Governing Council: Vice-Rector of Academic Orientation; Dean of the Faculty; and, since the end of the previous Rector’s term, the University’s acting Rector.
The career of Eva Perea demonstrates a wealth of professional experience which coexists with her academic profile. She has a doctorate in Business and Economics Science –her dissertation, published in CEU Ediciones, dealt with the access of Spanish businesses to the Chinese market– and she also has a Master in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Heriot-Watt (Edinburgh) and a Master in Social Science Research from the University Abat Oliba CEU. Her research is focused in the field of entrepreneurship, corporate social responsibility, internationalization and strategic management. Presently, she participates in the research project about the “Hidden Champions” of Spain. Furthermore, she was professor at the Universidad Autónoma in Ciudad Juárez (Mexico).
In the professional sphere she has had experience in both the private sector and in public institutions, national and international. Dr. Perea has worked in the business office of the embassy of Spain in The Hague, for eight years in the European Commission in Luxemburg and at the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce. She has served at Oxfam Intermón, the Cooperative Group Mondragón and at the Spanish Association of Electronic Products Exporters.
Moreover, her drive for entrepreneurship crystallized in the setting up of a business for consulting and formation on international promotion.
Dr. Perea has also shown much interest in disseminating her ideas beyond her teaching duties. She has authored the book Cambio de rumbo (Ediciones Martínez Roca, Grupo Planeta, 2008), and for a time she was a habitual guest on the National Broadcast of Spain’s morning program.
