ICUSTA Director visited UFASTA
The Executive Director of ICUSTA, Dr. Mauricio Echeverría, visited the Universidad FASTA in Mar del Plata, Argentina, with the main goal of starting the work of the Experts Committee for the Thomistic Studies Program. The Vice Rector of Formation, Fr. Alejandro Ramos, the Head of the Humanistic Department, Clara Lucifora and Prof. Gabriel Castro explained their longstanding experience with an online “University Degree in Thomistic Thought”. They also shared other online courses and publications which could be interesting for ICUSTA.
A second goal, related to the first one, was to learn from UFASTA’s experience on faith and reason integration in each branch of knowledge, in order to promote ICUSTA meetings and projects for specific areas including our common vision, which was one of the proposals agreed by the International Relations group in the Avila Biennial. Thus, Dr. Echeverría participated in consecutive meetings with the Director of the “Integration of Knowledge Program”, Prof. Jorge Razul, Dr. Mario Caponnetto and the authorities of the Faculties of Medical Sciences, Journalism and Communication, and Engineering. Some “Disciplinary Forums” are expected to be soon proposed to all ICUSTA institutions.
Dr. Caponnetto expressed to be very happy and honored by the visit of the Director of ICUSTA to that University, describing it as: “a fruitful workday in the academic field; but mostly it was a very enriching personal encounter”.
Besides, Dr. Echeverría discussed many topics on relations among their University and ICUSTA with the Vice Rector of Academic Affairs, Dr. Alejandro Campos, the Academic Secretary, Eng. Martín Camusso, and the Head of Distance Education, Dr. Silvano Penna, and he shared experiences and information with members of the Department of International Affairs about the ICUSTA initiatives, like the Globalization Course and the Solidarity Projects.
In addition, the ICUSTA Executive Director met in Buenos Aires with the member of our Honor Council, Fr. Aníbal Fosbery, and with the President of the “Sociedad Tomista Argentina”, Dr. María Celestina Donadío. They talked about the 25th Anniversary celebration and the Thomistic Conference to be developed in July 2018, in UST Chile.
