New Rector of the Universidad Santo Tomás Chile
On January 2nd, Mrs. María Olivia Recart has assumed as National Rector of the Universidad Santo Tomás, Chile, in replacement of Dr. Jaime Vatter, who left the presidency on November 30th, after eleven years of fruitful work in charge of the institution.
Mrs. María Olivia Recart is a Commercial Engineer and Major in Economics by the Universidad de Concepción, Chile, and MA in economics by ILADES – Georgetown University.
During her professional life she has contributed in different economy sectors: Union Association – Director of Studies at the Chamber of production and commerce of Concepción 1987-1988; Non-profit organization Fundación Chile – Head of Entrepreneurship projects, Innovation Manager and finally Development Manager of the Institution 1994-2005. In the public sector she was the Deputy Secretary of Finance of the Chilean government from 2006 to 2010, and in the private sector the Vice President of Corporate Affairs at BHP Billiton from 2010.
Rector Recart is now also a member of the ICUSTA Executive Committee, as Head of the institution that hosts the office of the Executive Director.
